Ha!

From S. Lee, who has gotten me into cycling, in response to a question about Aero Bars:

"Lance Armstrong needs Aero Bars, mere mortals need more training."

haha! oh, i just hadn't had a chance to read, my friend. yes, aero bars and carbon bikes make lance seconds faster. holding off on that twinkie and riding for an hour makes me faster, unless i give up, eat the twinkie anyway, and skip that last hour ....

oh and it should be noted also that only tri weenies use aerobars and aero helmets and skinsuits and shoe covers and disc wheels.

just beat them all on your modest bicycle and bad ass skills

remember my saying, "even with the best equipment, lance could still beat me on his tricycle"

Okay may I just say that this commentary makes me miss those conversations with you two on the couches at college. Glad some things don't change.

Funny enough I had this conversation with a friend the other day... a friend who is a tri weenie. My conclusion - unless you're going to the tour to do a time trial you don't need aero bars. I saw a guy the other day on a tri bike fall over at an intersection because he couldn't get his foot unclipped... the bars didn't make him look any cooler when he was lying on the pavement.

Haha, that's scary. I haven't done that in a long time. I think it has to happen to everyone once though.

I did it in my first week of riding with clipless trying to bump over a curb and losing my momentum... thankfully it was dark and nobody saw :) haven't done anything quite as stupid since.
