Into the Flourescent Tomb

I borrowed part of the first season of Scrubs from a friend today. It's the first time I've seen it, and yes, I am way behind the times in that. An amusing show, not always great, but giving a pretty good picture of life in the hospital.

Rotation 5 starts tomorrow.

What will your next rotation be?

I have to tell you a funny story. The day our son came home for Christmas break he was on the phone giving what sounded like to me a diagnosis of heart disease: "Well, how long has your heart been racing? Don't you think you should go to the ER?" etc. When he hung up I asked him who on earth he was talking to. It was one of his fellow med students. "Mom, don't laugh. There's something wrong with him. And there's no one there to take care of him."

The next day I asked my son if he had heard from his friend. "Yes, he spent the night in the ER and they did a bunch of tests, but didn't find anything. They told him he had Medical Student Syndrome."

Awesome. One of my profs told me he diagnosed himself with Hodgkin's Lymphoma on three seperate occasions in med school. We are a weird bunch.
I start Internal medicine tomorrow.
